Access group meeting with TIER scooters

Posted: Tuesday 27 April 2021 | Deborah Cairns

Our Access group recently had a very positive virtual meeting with representatives from TIER scooters.

Members were able to voice their concerns over the safety of e-scooters in the city, and it was reassuring to hear about the existing safety measures as well as improvements currently under discussion.

For example, riders must register their credit card details and verify their driving licence before starting. The scooters themselves are speed limited, and are unable to enter into areas such as footstreets. And they have to start and end their journeys in designated parking areas, so they should not be found littering the city’s pavements.

We are especially pleased to note that the parking bay opposite our Merchantgate offices is soon to be moved – certainly a positive step as we start to reopen to visitors.

If you want to find out more, TIER will be hosting a ‘Meet a Scooter’ drop in event where you can get ‘hands on’ and ask questions on 26th May, 13:00-16:00 at West Offices, Station Rise, York YO1 6GA.
