Free Inclusive Led Rides

Local Community Benefit Society, Everybody’s Cycling, are working with York Mind to offer free inclusive short leisurely guided rides in and around York along mostly car-free local cycle routes this summer. The rides are for adults aged 18+ and are free, thanks to grant funding from Sustrans via the Sport England Together Fund.

Cycling is the ideal way to improve fitness levels, mental wellbeing and meet new people. Their aim as a charity is to encourage people to cycle for the wellbeing benefits and they hope these rides will give people more confidence to cycle and discover new routes.

Bikes and helmets are available to borrow for free, and they have adapted cycles if needed such as tandems, trikes, wheelchair transporters, handcycles, and side-by-side companion cycles for adults who can’t ride on two wheels. Participants can bring a friend or family member (aged 18+) if you are nervous, or Everybody’s Cycling can provide a friendly ride companion (aka bike buddy).

If you are unsure which type of bike you may need, please contact Jessica Shay (General Manager at Everybody’s Cycling). It may be possible for you to try some bikes in advance before hopefully joining a ride.
