Hands and History – People and Pots – York Festival of Ideas

12th June 2026

Pottery is part of our everyday life and has been for the last 6,000 years. Join archaeologist Julian Richards as we get ‘hands on’ with the raw materials (prepare to get clayey!) and explore how pots have been made, decorated and fired through the ages. And as well as handling a wide range of pottery, you’ll also meet some of the fascinating characters that are a part of this ‘potted history of Britain’.

Booking is essential. For further information and to book your place, please email Vicky on hello@mysightyork.org or phone 01904 636269.
