York Sight Loss Council, VI Forum presents – Let’s Get Active, Exercise for Mind and Body

Posted: Thursday 5 May 2022 | Louise Railton

MySight York are promoting an external event.

Friday 13th May 11am – 1pm, Revolution Coney Street York

Speakers include Martin Symcox (TPT), Phillipa Bas (British Blind Sport), Vicky Smith (MySight York), and Roy Turnham (a blind England International Football player). Others to be announced.

Since lock down opportunities to meet and socialise has become a challenge as many blind and partially sighted people are not aware of what is available or have lost their confidence in taking up a new activity and meeting new people. The York VI Forum will introduce blind and partially sighted people to a range of speakers who want to promote all that is going on in York, including fresh and new opportunities open to all.

“We want all blind and partially sighted people to have the opportunity to be active members of their community. This will be a fantastic opportunity to see what is available to blind and partially sighted people in York and have a go at creating the perfect world of how we would like recreational activities to look in the future.” Iain Mitchell Senior Engagement Manger Yorkshire & Humberside

Tea and coffee are available upon arrival & a free lunch will be provided after the event, but spaces are limited so book in advance.  Please indicate if you are a vegetarian or vegan or have any food allergies.
