We are delighted to announce that we have secured funding to launch new adapted golf and tennis development sessions, the only programmes of their kind in York for people living with sight loss.

This funding will enable us to create more opportunities for people to stay active, build confidence, and improve their wellbeing through sport. Our adapted golf sessions will give participants a reason to get outdoors and stay active, something many people tell us they have missed since losing their vision. Alongside tennis, these sessions will help people develop greater independence while supporting positive mental health.

Each group will allow us to reach people who are not always engaged through our existing programme, helping to broaden participation among demographics that need it most.

More than just sporting activities, these groups will create welcoming communities where people can build friendships, share experiences, and access valuable peer support.

Being Active has received £10,000 from David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire and York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority.
