Fundraising

Supporting MySight York can be fun, easy, exciting and worthwhile. We need £150,000 a year to provide the support that people living with sight loss rely on.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have had to change the ways we fundraise to ensure our staff and volunteers are kept safe. As a result, all of our fundraising events have had to be cancelled for the time being and our fundraising is now all virtual. Here are some ways you can get involved:

–        You can make a one-off or regular donation through your bank. Alternatively, to donate £3 per month you can text MYSIGHT to 70085 OR to give a single donation, text MYSIGHT followed by the amount to 70490 (e.g. MYSIGHT5=£5)

–        Start using platforms such as AmazonSmile, Give As You Live, Everyclick and Easyfundraising when shopping online. These cost you nothing but we receive a donation for every purchase.

–        Spring cleaning during lockdown? Ziffit is a website where you can sell your unwanted DVDs, books, CDs and games and donate the proceeds to your favourite charity with their ‘Declutter and Donate’ scheme. You can find out more about it here:

–        Don’t Send Me a Card is a website that allows you to send virtual e-cards to friends and family and donate funds to MySight York at the same time. A great, eco-friendly alternative for this year’s Christmas cards and a great resource for us too.

We receive donations from trusts and companies such as Betty’s, but if any corporations are interested in becoming involved in fundraising for MySight York, please get in touch so we can discuss opportunities for partnership.

We have started collecting stamps! Are you, or someone you know, a collector with some stamps to give away? Then we want to hear from you. Stamp donations are an easy way for us raise money – the more we have, the more we get!

We still need volunteers and supporters to empty our Pink Elephant collection boxes. We plan to resume these collections in 2021 (depending on the COVID-19 situation).

Some people choose to leave us a gift in their will. This costs nothing to them in their lifetime, but makes a lasting difference to us. Don’t forget our special offer via Remember a Charity in your Will and Co-Op Legal Services:

Through our partnership with Remember a Charity, members also have access to an online Will writing service via Bequeathed. More information can be found here:

Thank you for your support.
