Supporting MySight York can be fun, easy, exciting and worthwhile. We need to raise £150,000 a year to provide the services that local people with sight loss rely on.
Get in touch with us at email@example.com or 01904 636269 and ask for Louise. We would love to hear from you!
We really appreciate your support and generosity because without you, we would not be able to fund our crucial work.
The past couple of years have proven to be very challenging for community fundraising, however there are still many ways to support us.
Make a donation online
To make a regular or one-off donation, please click here or click the pink Donate Now button on the right of the screen.
Just £10 pays for a Liquid Level Indicator, enabling our Sight Support Advisers to show a blind or partially sighted person how to make a cup of tea safely.
£25 enables someone who’s newly diagnosed with sight loss to meet with our Eye Clinic Liaison Officer at York Hospital.
£50 pays for an expert reading assessment, enabling a blind or partially sighted person to explore specialist equipment and techniques to help them enjoy reading again.
Donate via text
You can donate to our virtual collection bucket by texting MYSIGHT to 70085 to donate £3 a month. *Texts cost the donation amount plus one standard rate message.
To make a one-off donation, please text MYSIGHT followed by the donation amount (e.g. MYSIGHT3) to 70490. *Texts cost the donation amount plus one standard rate message.
Hold a fundraising event
Maybe you would like to jump out of a plane, host a tea party or even shave your head to raise money for us? If so, you can set up your own fundraising page via enthuse. Email Louise (our Fundraising and Marketing Officer) on firstname.lastname@example.org to request our Fundraising Pack, which guides you step by step through holding your event.
We are always very grateful for donations of raffle/tombola prizes and refreshments for our members.
Leave a legacy
Some people choose to leave us a gift in their will. Their generosity can make a lasting difference to the services we provide. By leaving us a gift in your will, it will help MySight York to continue to provide our services to local blind and partially sighted people.
Our partnership with Remember a Charity in Your Will gives you access to a special discount on Co-Op Legal Service’s will writing service. Alternatively you can use Bequeathed to find a legal firm of your choosing.
We are always happy to work with businesses who want to support us, whether it be through sponsorship, direct donations, payroll giving or volunteering. If you are interested in becoming a corporate sponsorship partner, please email email@example.com for more information.
Possibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Why not nominate MySight York as your workplace’s Charity of the Month/Charity of the Year? Create an opportunity for colleagues to come together and support a cause that will make a difference to local people living with sight loss
- Donating a prize to one of our fundraising raffles
- Donations for specific MySight York projects or events
- Hold a fundraising event for us – this could involve a bake sale, a dress down day or something else
- Sponsorship – this could be anything from becoming a sponsor of a fundraising event we’re hosting, to pledging to match donations made at an event. We will work with you to help deliver a tailored sponsorship package to increase awareness of your brand and acknowledge your donation within MySight York.
Other ways to give
There are many other ways to support us besides direct donations.
If you have unwanted DVDs, CDs, books or games at home, you can donate these to us for our fundraising stalls.
If you’re thinking of sending friends or family a card, why not choose an e-card from Don’t Send Me a Card and donate funds to us at the same time?
Finally, perhaps you know a local shop or business who could give a home to one of our ‘pink elephant’ collection boxes? Please let us know by contacting us on 01904 636269 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
However you choose to help us, we would like to say a huge THANK YOU. Every donation we receive makes a real difference to the lives of the blind and partially sighted people we support.
